Bee Venom is a complex composition of enzymes, proteins and amino acids. It is a colourless clear liquid, with a sweet taste and a little bitter. It is soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol and ammonium sulphate. If it is come in contact with air, it forms, opaque or grayish-white crystals.
Bee Venom History
Throughout the history of civilization, bee venom has been well known as a medicine. Its therapeutic effect and benefits are described in the works of ancient natural scientists and doctors, such as Hippocrates (IV century AD), Plinius (I century), Halen (II century).
Nowadays, an extensive research all round the world is being done on its medical applications. In most cases, bee Venom is more effective than synthetic product. Indeed the venom of many animals in small doses has been successfully used for healing various diseases as in orthodox and alternative medicine from ancient times. Bee venom is the leader in this list.
Bee Venom Composition
Bee venom is a unique multi-component complex, which contains about 30 biologically active compounds, some of which are practically impossible to get synthesized by chemical methods.
The main anti-inflammatory pharmacological components are peptides: melittin, apamin, peptide 401, adolapin, and protease inhibitors. Bee venom is hemorrhagic, differing from snake (viper) venom, which is a coagulant.
Bee Venom Therapeutically Usage
A partial list of medical studies reported that bee venom was used in following cases which includes nutrition, vitamins supplements minerals and exercises.
Bee Venom Properties
Bee venom peptides have systemic action:
Anti-inflammatory,Anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-pyretic, stimulating vascular permeability. It has also been proven that bee venom is a strong immunological agent and stimulates the body’s protective mechanisms against disease. There are different mechanisms of bee venom action in the body – indirectly through hormone system and directly on cardiovascular system.
